Advocacy: Influencing healthcare policy
The Royal College influences healthcare policy in a variety of ways. We provide government decision makers with informed and critical analysis on a wide range of issues and trends that affect our health system. We also make presentations to parliamentary committees, and submissions to government panels and other working groups.
COVID-19 Advocacy
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged Royal College Fellows, health care providers and the health care system in ways we never expected or could have anticipated. The Royal College advocates for supports for Fellows, residents and the health care workforce (including income stabilization and sick leave), and emphasizes an evidence-based response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it is supporting Fellows and Residents in the use of virtual care or advocating for access to PPE to help you work safely, we have your backs.
Advocacy Priorities
We provide government decision makers with informed and critical analysis on a wide range of issues and trends that affect our health system. Recent priorities leading up to, and following , the 2019 federal election include: Pharmacare, Reconciliation and Indigenous Health, a Connected Country (reliable broadband access for all people living in Canada) and Sustainable and Diverse Research Careers. Previous Advocacy
The Royal College has long acted as a voice for our Fellows and specialty medicine. We have provided submissions to governments, appeared before federal committees and produced reports on issues important to our Fellows and the people they care for.
